Cristian Danescu is known on the electronic music scene as Becks. Born in 1987, on August 12 , in Bucharest, Becks was surrounded by music since he was a child. He started mixing some songs he loved, doing it for himself, not because he wanted to be a dj. Until now, Becks played at Iarmaroc Fest, last year’s Lollipop Halloween Party, Propaganda, Bubbles Club, Traian 42, Space Club and Web. Along the lines he collaborated with the guys from All Wheels Drive House, mostly Piftek. He lived in New York for more than 10 years, having access to record stores and a whole different scene, therefore his musical portrayal is different from others locally. Now, his eclectic style, his will of making good music and the style he approached (house with jazz and funk influences, sometimes progressive, breaks or Detroit techno) got him a lot of attention. He looks up to Nick Warren, Jody Wisternoff, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Danny Tenaglia. In his opinion, the best show he ever had, was two years ago at a New Year’s Eve Party, where he mixed almost 10 hours, building a strong connection with the crowd. For Becks, another great passion is the English football. He’s a fan of Manchester United and his artist name comes from David Beckham.It seems like “Good things come to those who wait” is the way Becks sees life from a professional point of view.
